Emergency Operations Centre (EOC)
Processes and Practices is the second course in a series that provides
foundational knowledge and skills for those assigned to a health-focused
emergency operation centre. The course provides knowledge and skills
related to information management, action planning, decision-making,
resource management, and demobilization process and practices, which
build the core operational and management activities within an EOC.

Course Goal and Objectives
Course Goal:
To provide health personnel with the
knowledge and skills to complete core operational process and practices
which support the effective functioning of an emergency operations
centre.

Learning Objectives:
As a result of completing the course, you will be able to:
- Describe and demonstrate EOC processes and practices for information management.
- Describe EOC reporting and direction setting practices.
- Describe Resource Request management practices and considerations.
- Describe practices and considerations for EOC demobilization.

Student Expectations and Assessments
This two-week course is instructor-led
and requires active engagement with other participants. It will take
8-12 hours to complete all course tasks and activities. It is
recommended to dedicate 4-6 hours per week on this course. As this
course is a group-based learning experience, you are required to
participate in group discussion activities and the live virtual
classroom sessions. You can work ahead, however you will need to return
to group discussions on the specified days outlined in the Course Calendar.
Notify the instructor if you are unable to keep up with the course
schedule as this may impact the learning experience for you and your
group members.

This is a graded course, with the breakdown being:

To successfully complete the course, you must:
- Complete all tasks and activities as scheduled - refer to the Course Calendar for timelines.
- Review Parts 1, 2 and 3 of the course content module.
- Participate in the two (2) live virtual classroom sessions (one
per week). If unable to attend, contact the Instructor to confirm
options. - Actively participate in the weekly online group discussion activities.
- Complete the final exam with a grade of 70% or higher.
Participants who find themselves unable
to meet course expectations should reach out to the instructor as soon
as possible. Alternate course options or extensions, may be available in
some situations.

Course Expectations
In this self-paced course, you will progress through on your own schedule. The course will take approximately 3-4 hours to complete and you may access the course content as many times as you like. You should aim to complete the course within two weeks of enrollment.
General Expectations - You are expected to review all the content lessons, complete the practice knowledge checks, and then successfully complete the final course exam before the course end date.
Grading/Evaluation - This is a graded course. To pass the course, you must obtain a passing grade of 70% on the final course exam. If you do not pass on your first attempt a second attempt will be provided.
Successful completion of this course is required to advance to higher level courses in this training series. You will be able to download a course record/certificate upon successful completion.
